Naturalist and guide Lucie LaPlante Villeneuve Villeneuve of Outdoor ESCAPES New
Hampshire, LLC, will be leading a snowshoe tour for women on Saturday,
January 10, in Gilford, NH. “The focus will be on New Hampshire wildlife in
the winter, and tips on outdoor photography,” says LaPlante.
The tour will provide women the opportunity to learn about
animal tracking and behavior in natural habitats. Recent signs include
fisher, porcupine, whitetail deer, and wild turkey. Besides gaining nature
knowledge, interested participants can also improve their snowshoeing and
photography skills.
This is the first of the 2004 Women’s Wilderness Series, with
monthly events introducing women to outdoor adventures—snowshoeing, cross
country skiing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, and biking. February’s event
will be a two-day winter camping snowshoe hike.
The women’s snowshoe tour starts at 10am and ends around 4pm.
Cost is $35 and includes lunch. Snowshoe rentals are available for $15. To
register and for more information on this and other events, call
603-528-0136.
