Cross Country Skiing in New Hampshire
We offer custom guided
cross country and backcountry ski tours
and lessons statewide December through April--see also Snowshoeing.
Where there is snow, is where we go!

Cross country or backcountry skiing is
one of our favorite winter activities here in NH.
We will lead you on the best ski trails in New Hampshire. There
are groomed trails for the skinny touring skis, as well as untracked pristine
areas for the slightly wider backcountry skis. Multi-day inn-to-inn tours or
yurt adventures are available for those daring to try. You
may also opt to join Lucie for just a day, then stay at a cozy bed and breakfast where
you can sit by a fireplace, enjoy a hot tub, and be pampered with a spa
experience.
On
a guided winter trek you will find quite different scenery than any other
season. The weather is cool and crisp and sometimes it is snowing. The ground is
white and you notice everything else in detail...the bark and twigs of trees,
birds, exposed granite rocks. The best part is discovering animal tracks,
patterns, and other signs of their movement through the snow.

 Cross
country skiing is great exercise, especially if you're good at it. One or two
lessons and lots of miles for practice is all it takes. Lucie will
help you master the diagonal glide, and show you the tricks of skate and
telemark turns if that interests you. These fancy words mean that you will be
able to ski on flat terrain as well as up hills and down hills, and negotiate
corners and use poles efficiently. Take a lesson with a tour and you'll also find out what to wear, bring, and
eat while you're enjoying winter in the great outdoors.
Whether
you want a Guided Cross Country Ski Day trip, a
6-Day Black Diamond Lodge to
Lodge Tour, a 3-Day Winter B & B Tour,
or a custom ESCAPE, Outdoor ESCAPES NH will give you an unforgettable
experience on New Hampshire's trails!
As a rule, the longer your trip, the more you
get out of it. You'll get better at skiing, see more wildlife, and increase your
fitness level. Check out our Packages and Events.
Lucie will provide you with a suggested
list of things to bring so you will be prepared for any type of weather. The
most important things on that list are skis,
boots, and poles that fit you properly, a day pack, and layers of synthetic
clothing. For
some multi-day trips, you will also need your own sleeping bag and pad.
We rent some packs. Ski rental packages and sleeping bags are available at your
local, or NH, sports store.
